There are a number of scenarios in which you might want to import and export data from Progressimo.

For example:

• For when you don’t want to create moments manually.
• Generating and modifying moment properties based on some kind of formula or function (e.g. for levelling up, difficulty curves etc.)
• Using Progressimo to edit game balancing data and exporting it for use in the game
• Loading playtesting data into Progressimo for certain moment properties (e.g. ammo use).
• Exporting the model data to use in another tool to use in some other process or visualisation.
• Exporting automated walkthrough data for visualisation and analysis in another tool

Access these functions from the File menu.

Exporting a JSON file

The JSON exporter exports all progression elements and the a complete model of the progression plan - including moments, framing boxes and how they are linked.

There's also an option for automatically exporting a JSON file every time you save. This is accessible via the Tools menu in Preferences.

Importing a CSV file

You can create or update moments by creating the data in a spreadsheet and importing it into Progressimo in the form of a .csv file. This can be useful if you have a lot of moments/data to create, or if you want to create or update your data using mathematical formulas.

To create the data in a spreadsheet, format it like this:

• Moment names go in the left hand column.
• Progression element names go on the top row. By default, these represent state updates.
